| Erythrulose has been proved to be safe for cosmetic use. Acute toxicity tests have revealed LD50 >2000 mg/kg (rats, oral) for 16 per cent erythrulose. Erythrulose is neither irritating nor sensitising on contact with the skin. Erythrulose was not mutagenic in Ames' test. |
